Instead of forcing you to use complicated audio editing tools on a computer, DeepDenoiser packs advanced noise-reduction algorithms into a simple, lightweight Android app. It is designed to isolate the sounds you actually want to hear, for instance, your voice.

It reduces background noise such as fan hum, traffic, and wind. It is like having a tiny audio engineer living right inside your phone, and it doesn’t have to be a Samsung.

Getting DeepDenoiser is simple

But you cannot get it from the official Google Play Store, though

Since this is an open-source project, the app is not available on the Google Play Store. But that should not intimidate you, as there are a bunch of other Google Play Store alternatives that offer great apps that are often not available officially.

But don’t let that intimidate you, because installing takes less than a minute. However, to get started, you need to side-load the application onto your phone. Here’s what you need to do:

1. On your Android phone, open your favorite web browser and head over to this link.
2. Look for the Assets section.
3. Tap on the APK file and download it to your phone.
4. Once the download completes, install the APK on your phone as you would normally do for any other app.

Make sure that you have provided the “Install unknown apps” permission for your browser to install directly. Otherwise, you would have to open the file manager app on your phone and then install it from there.

One of the best things about DeepDenoiser is that it is quite easy to use. You do not need to know anything about frequencies, equalizers, or noise gates. Once you have the app installed, fixing your ruined videos is straightforward.

1. Launch the DeepDenoiser app on your Android phone.
2. Grant permissions to the app if you are using it for the first time.
3. Tap on the Import Media File button on the home page and select the audio or video file from which you wish to remove the background noise.
4. Then, simply tap on the Proceed to Denoise button.
5. In the Process Video page, you have the option to expand the Advanced Settings options, where you can:
   1. Turn on or off Loudness Normalization.
   2. Choose the attenuation limit.
6. Once that has been tweaked, press the Start Denoising button.

The process of denoising will begin, and once complete, you have the option to listen to the output within the app itself. If you like it, then you can hit the Save to Device button or have the option to Restart or Process another file.

Frankly speaking, I have used the Samsung Audio Eraser tool a lot and, comparing it with the DeepDenoiser app, on a bunch of occasions, I found that the output produced by the DeepDenoiser app was far better than the Audio Eraser. For this reason, despite having the Audio Eraser app on my phone built in, I keep and use DeepDenoiser to clean up the audio in my footage.
