How to Turn Off Keyboard Vibration

What to Know

  • Disable vibrating keyboard on Android: Settings > Sounds and vibration > System sound/vibration control > Samsung Keyboard
  • If your keyboard is vibrating on iPhone or iPad, you may be using a third-party keyboard app.
  • To turn off keyboard vibration on iPhone, open the iOS keyboard app and disable it in the app’s settings.

This article will walk you through the steps for how to disable keyboard vibration on Android smartphones and tablets and Apple’s iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad.

How Do I Turn Off the Vibrating Keyboard on iPhone and iPad?

The default iOS keyboard pre-installed on Apple’s iPhones and iPads doesn’t actually have a haptic feedback feature so, if your keyboard is vibrating, it’s likely you or someone else has installed a third-party keyboard app such as Google’s Gboard or Microsoft’s SwiftKey.

Here’s how to turn off keyboard vibration with Microsoft SwiftKey. These steps should be similar for other iOS keyboard apps like Gboard as well.

  1. Open the SwiftKey app on your iPad or iPhone.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Tap the switch next to Key Haptic Feedback.

If the switch is blue, this means haptic vibrations are enabled. If it’s gray, keyboard vibration has been turned off.

  4. Close the app and use the keyboard as usual. If your iPhone continues to vibrate when you tap the keys, you may be using a different iOS keyboard app. Search for this app and repeat the above steps or switch keyboards on an iPhone by tapping the globe icon.

Sometimes your iPhone or iPad may vibrate when you tap a website or app. This is a separate setting from keyboard vibrations and can be disabled via the iOS Settings app.
