Samsung’s Do Not Disturb Settings

The settings for do not disturb mode on Samsung Galaxy smartphones are slightly different from stock Android but mostly accomplish the same things.

On the do not disturb settings page, there are four options: Turn on now, Turn on as scheduled, Allow exceptions, and Hide notifications. Turn on now is a toggle switch where you can enable or disable do not disturb mode.

  • Turn on as scheduled: With this, you can set the hours and days of the week when you’d like it to turn on and off automatically.
  • Allow exceptions: You can choose which sounds and notifications you want to let through even in DND mode.
  • Hide notifications: You can hide all notifications with the flip of a switch or tweak several granular settings.

How to Manage Do Not Disturb Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications > Do not disturb.

  2. Tap Turn on as scheduled.

  3. Toggle the switch on.

  4. Select the days and times you wish to turn Do not disturb on and off.

Some apps have requested access to the Do not disturb setting upon installation, which overrides your schedule preferences. In that case, an app might trigger DND based on your activity, like if it detects you’re driving. If you don't want an app to make changes to Do not Disturb, go to Settings > Sounds and vibration > Do not Disturb > App rules to change those settings.

  5. Go back to Do not disturb settings; then tap Allow exceptions.

  6. Select what you’d like to allow through while on do not disturb, including sounds, calls, messages, events, tasks, and reminders.
