Drop a Pin on Google Maps via Android or iOS
Despite the mobile device that you own, the process of dropping a pin on Google Maps remains the same. This is because both the platforms use the same app and the user interface is identical. To drop a pin on Google Maps using your Android or iOS smartphone, follow the instructions down below:
- First of all, open up the Google Maps app on your device.
- Once the app is open, find the location where you wish to drop a pin. You can do this by using the Search field provided or simply moving around the map on your own.
- After you have found your desired location, zoom in as far as possible so that you can clearly see where you want the pin.
- Finally, tap and hold the spot where you wish to drop the pin on Google Maps. Once you do that, you should see a pin appear on the chosen spot.
- A new menu should appear at the bottom of your screen.
- Using the different options, you can share your pin with others or even save the location for the future.
- To share the pin, simply tap the Share option provided.
- In case you want to save the pin for the future, tap the Label option provided. In case you don’t see the option directly, swipe up on the bottom pop-up. With that done, you should be able to see the Label option now.
- After doing that, you will be asked to give the label a name. Provide a name or description of your requirement.
- With that done, swipe up from the bottom and then finally tap the Save button provided. After you are done with that, you will have successfully saved the location and you can easily refer to it in the future.
Drop a Pin on Google Maps via a Computer
The process of dropping a pin on Google maps on a computer using a browser is even simpler as all it takes you is a few clicks and you are good to go. Follow the instructions down below to drop a pin on Google Maps using a computer:
- To start off, open up Google Maps on your computer.
- Once Google Maps is open, find the location where you want the pin dropped. You can use the search bar provided to do this or simply pan around the map until you land on the location.
- After you have found the spot where you want the pin, simply click on it and a small grey pin should appear on the map along with an info box at the bottom of the screen.
- If you want directions to the dropped pin, simply click the blue Navigate icon that is provided.
- In case you wish to save the pin for future reference, simply click anywhere on the info box that appears.
- Doing so will bring up a new menu on the left hand side. There, to save the pin for the future, click on the Save option to save the location to Your Places.
- Once you have done that, you will be able to navigate to it pretty easily in the future.
