What are Line-of-Business (LoB) apps?
LOB applications are typically custom applications that are specific to a business and used in its daily operations. More specifically, Line-of-Business applications are applications that are often developed in-house or provided by a vendor to meet specific company needs (e.g. ERP/CRM clients, accounting software, etc.).
However, today, some well-known program manufacturers release single file installers for their applications (such as Google Chrome, 7-zip, etc.) in .MSI format, so that they can be installed on enterprise devices.*

How to Deploy a LoB app in Intune (Microsoft 365).*
* Note: In this tutorial we demonstrate how to deploy/install Google Chrome as a Line of Business App on Enrolled Windows Devices in Intune. Use the same instructions for any other LoB app you want to deploy.
Requirements:
- Microsoft Intune admin permissions
- Devices already enrolled in Intune.
- Windows 10 22H2 or later, or Windows 11
- Valid app installer package file (.msi, .msix, etc.)
Step 1. Download Google Chrome installer in .MSI file.
1. Go to the Google Chrome Enterprise Download page, click Download Chrome, and then choose to download the stable 64-bit Chrome installer in .MSI format.
2. After downloading the "googlechromestandaloneenterprise64.msi" file proceed to next step.
Step 2. Deploy Google Chrome app in Windows Devices via Intune.
1. On the Microsoft Intune Admin Center select Apps > Windows and click Create.
2. In the 'Select app type' window, choose Line-of-business app and then click Select.
3a. Now, click Select app package file.
3b. In the "App package file" window, click the Browse icon.
4c. Select the "googlechromestandaloneenterprise64.msi" file you downloaded and click Open.
4d. Click OK
5. In the App information, do the following and then click Next.
- In Publisher field, type "Google Chrome"
- In Ignore app version, select Yes
- In Command line arguments field type "/qn" for silent installation.
6. In the 'Assignments' select Add all devices under Required if you want to install the app on all devices on your organization or select "Add group" to choose a specific group. Then click Next to continue.
7. Finally, click Create to create the new app.
Step 3. Monitor App Installation Status on Enrolled Devices.
After you create the new app, wait for it to be automatically deployed and silently installed by Intune on enrolled devices. Then, in the Intune Admin Center > Apps > Windows, select the app and view:
a. The overall progress of the installation.
b. Check Device install status to see in which devices the app is installed or not and fix any issues.
