- Out-dated Microsoft Windows: Users have reported frequently that this error develops because users install MS Teams on an outdated or unsupported version of Microsoft Windows (Windows 7 or earlier version of Windows).
- Out-dated Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraries: Many online forums have reported that users running on outdated versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraries, encounter this error. It might sound odd but all these Microsoft applications have some interlinked architecture and support one another.
- Administrator Account: In some cases, it has also been reported that this error occurred when users were not using an administrator account on their computer while using Microsoft Teams.
Solution 1: Update Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraries

- Press the Windows Key + R keys on your keyboard to open Run dialog box.
- Type appwiz.cpl and click OK. This will take you to the list of all installed programs on your PC.
- Locate all Microsoft Visual C++ programs in the list, select them, and click Uninstall. This will start a series of uninstallation wizards running back to back. Wait until the process gets completed.
- Download a fresh updated copy of Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraries from the Official Microsoft Support Webpage and then install them. This should fix your problem.
Solution 2: Clean Uninstall & Reinstall MS Teams
If installing the latest versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraries didn’t fix your problem then there is a strong possibility that some of the MS Teams system files are corrupted. The easy fix would be to completely uninstall MS Teams and reinstall the latest fresh copy. Follow the steps given below to do so:
- Close MS Teams by right-clicking the MS Teams icon in the taskbar and select Quit. This will end all the background ongoing processes related to MS Teams.
- Right-click on Start and select Control Panel to open it.
- Select Uninstall a program under the Programs section. This will take you to the list of all installed programs on your PC.

- Repeat step 6. Now you have finally uninstalled Microsoft Teams completely from your computer.
- Download a fresh updated copy of Microsoft Teams desktop setup from the Official Microsoft Teams Download Webpage and then install it. This should finally fix your problem.
