How Do I Fix Bad System Information in Windows 10?

If you are facing a blue screen of death every time your computer boots and it displays a blue screen of death with the writing Bad System Information in Windows 10 do not worry as this issue can easily be fixed.

It can be quite scary because you can not boot to your desktop and you worry that you will lose valuable data.  Well don’t worry I will show you how to fix this issue.

What Causes The Bad System Information Error?

There are many reasons for this error and it will change from system to system.  The most common issues are.

How To Fix The Bad System Information in Windows 10

To fix the bad system information blue screen of death we are going to create a bootable windows 10 recovery disc which we will use to run a few tools.

Create The Windows 10 Recovery Disc

To create the windows 10 recovery disc follow these steps.

1. Download the microsoft recovery tool from the link below.Windows 10 32 bit Click Here
   Windows 10 64 Bit Click Here
2. Once the file has downloaded double click on the file, On the first window click on “Create installation media for another PC” and click next
   
3. Select the required language, edition and architecture then click next
   
4. Select USB flash drive or ISO File (In this guide we are going to make a usb recovery disc. Then click next
   
5. Enter a USB drive in to your machine (Please note we require to wipe this drive so backup any required data)
6. Select the drive your USB is connected to and click next
   
7. The tool will now download the required files and prepare your USB drive.  This process can take between 10 minutes and an hour depending on your internet connection.
   
8. When the tool has finished close the application and remove the USB drive from your system.

Fix 1 : Check Disk For Errors

The firs thing I like to do to fix this error is to check the disk for errors.  To do this

1. Insert the Windows 10 Recovery Media we just created in to your machine and turn your machine on and boot to the usb drive
2. On the first screen select your required language and keyboard layout and click next.
   
3. On the next screen click on Repair your computer, Do not click on install now.
   
4. On the choose an option screen click on troubleshoot
   
5. On the troubleshoot screen click on advanced options
   
6. On the advanced options screen click on Command Prompt
   
   
7. In the command prompt (Black window) type in  chkdsk /f /r  and hit enter, your computer will now be scanned for corrupt files and it will resolve any issues it finds. When the scan has completed restart your machine.
   Hopefully you have resolved the Bad System Information error in windows 10, If you are still suffering a blue screen of death try the next fix.

Fix 2 : Windows 10 Bootrec Repair

Next thing we are going to try is a bootrec repair. This tool will reset your windows 10 boot files.

1. Insert the Windows 10 Recovery Media we just created in to your machine and turn your machine on and boot to the usb drive
2. On the first screen select your required language and keyboard layout and click next.
   
3. On the next screen click on Repair your computer, Do not click on install now.
   
4. On the choose an option screen click on troubleshoot
   
5. On the troubleshoot screen click on advanced options
   
6. On the advanced options screen click on Command Prompt
   
   
7. In the command prompt (Black window) type in the following commands one by one.bootrec /repairbcd
   bootrec /osscan
   bootrec /repairmbr
8. Once the commands have run restart your machine.

If you are still having issues continue to the next fix.

Fix 3 : Windows 10 Start Up Repair

We are now going to use a startup repair.  This tool will check all your windows 10 startup files (Not just the bootrec as in fix 2) and will resolve any issues it finds. To run this repair follow these steps.

1. Insert the Windows 10 Recovery Media we just created in to your machine and turn your machine on and boot to the usb drive
2. On the first screen select your required language and keyboard layout and click next.
   
3. On the next screen click on Repair your computer, Do not click on install now.
   
4. On the choose an option screen click on troubleshoot
   
5. On the troubleshoot screen click on advanced options
   
6. On the advanced options screen click on startup repair
   
7. The windows 10 startup repair will now automatically start and will resolve any issues it finds, Expect this process to take 2 minutes to 20 minutes.
8. When the repair has finished reboot your machine.
