Check Bluesky Status: Quick Guide to Detect Outages and Downtime

Bluesky has proven itself as a popular alternative to X (formerly Twitter) but it’s not immune to problems. If you’re wondering ‘Is Bluesky down?’ here’s how to check.

With more than 30 million users, Bluesky (aka Bsky) going down is inconvenient and there appears to be an outage taking place on 29 April.

Update 12pm BST: Bluesky appears to be working again as normal with the outage lasting around an hour – details below.

According to Downdetector, a reliable source for service status information, tens of thousands of users have reported issues with the app and website. It seems the issue started around 11am BST and affected users in the UK and US at the least.

We don’t have any information from Bluesky on the problem such as how long it will take to fix, since it can’t post on its own platform to inform users and the official status page simply said “some systems down”.

This comes only a few days after the site’s last major outage.
