Did Your Wordle Streak Disappear on iPhone or Android? Here’s the Fix

When The New York Times purchased Wordle, the newspaper promised that Wordle scores would transfer over. However, many users have said that wasn’t the case. Many of us have been playing Wordle daily, so seeing our streak is important to us. It also allows us to compare our streaks with friends and even offers an incentive to keep streaks alive.

If your Wordle streak was reset, hope is not yet lost and there are a few things you can try to get it back.

Why Your Wordle Streak is Gone

Your Wordle streak will disappear if you delete your browsing history, delete your browsing data, or reset your phone. Any of these things will cause your Wordle streak to be permanently reset.

Your Wordle streak might also disappear if you added the Wordle shortcut to the Home Screen on your mobile device. We’re not sure why this is, as bookmarks also use the same mobile browser where your original streak was, but this is currently the case. You can resolve this by continuing to play on your mobile browser.

If you didn’t do any of these things and your streak still got reset, it’s most likely a redirection issue that’s easy to resolve.

Go to the Old Wordle Website and Allow It to Redirect

The purchase of Wordle by The New York Times is the most common reason why your Wordle streak may have disappeared. To get it back, head to the old Wordle website and allow it to redirect to the new website. This redirect should happen automatically.

Do this on the browser you played Wordle on before The New York Times purchased Wordle. If you search for Wordle and tap on the top link, it will go to the new website without redirecting from the old one. This is the most likely the reason your score is missing.

Above Fix Didn’t Work? Unfortunately, You’ll Have to Start Over

If you tried to redirect and your streak is still gone, it means that it’s most likely gone forever and there isn’t a way to get it back. While this may sound like a bad thing, sometimes there’s nothing wrong with starting over. This also gives you a chance to get a better streak and allows you to use what you’ve learned so far to improve and get an even better score.

Hopefully, in the future, you can save your Wordle streaks to a Wordle account.
