Had a bad Wordle streak lately? You’re not alone. After the New York Times’ purchase of Wordle, the word list changed and it seems the words got trickier. There are also some not-so-common words in the word list that might make you lose after a hot streak.
If you want to reset your Wordle streak on your phone, we will show you how. After all, Wordle is meant to be fun, and if you’re disappointed by your recent streak, that might hinder your excitement. There are also plenty of other reasons why one might want to reset their streak.
Did You Add Wordle to Your Home Screen? Delete This First
If you’re looking to delete your Wordle streak, you’ll first need to delete your Home Screen bookmark if you created one. To do this, hold onto the Wordle bookmark and tap Delete Bookmark on iPhone or Remove on Android.
Once you do this, you can take the following steps to reset your streak and add your bookmark back later.
Clear Your Browser History
The easiest way to reset your Wordle streak is by clearing your browser history. This works for almost every browsing app including Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. This can be done in every app by viewing your history and tapping Delete or Clear.
Clear Your Data in Settings
If you still see your Wordle streak, you might need to clear all the data from your settings. Some users report that clearing your browser history doesn’t always work.
If you’re using Safari, you can clear your browser history by heading to Settings > Safari and tapping Clear History and Website Data. This will erase all data on the Safari app. On Android, head to Settings > Apps > Chrome > Manage Space > Clear All Data.
Alternatively, you can uninstall and reinstall any third-party browser you’re using. Once you do this, your Wordle streak will reset if it didn’t before.
Should You Reset Your Wordle Streak?
Some say that resetting your Wordle streak isn’t fair and you should just accept your score. However, there’s nothing wrong with resetting your Wordle streak. There are also times that it might be helpful, like wanting to see if a new strategy improves your streak or testing out new beginning words.
No matter the reason for resetting your Wordle streak, it is possible and easy to do.
