Raycast is an easy-to-use yet advanced app offering similar functionalities to Spotlight but with more customizations and features. Below, we'll cover some ways Raycast is better than Spotlight.
1. Better Search
Spotlight's ability to search for files and applications is arguably its most valuable feature. All you need to do is use the keyboard shortcut Cmd + Space, and a search bar will appear.
Raycast offers a similar search function with an intuitive UI but with more options. After downloading Raycast from its website and installing it on your Mac, you can search for files, applications, contacts, bookmarks, calendar events, and more using its default keyboard shortcut, Option + Space.
However, Raycast takes its search feature to the next level by giving you more control with its action menu. For example, when searching for a specific file or application, you can press Cmd + K to open the action menu and access options like Show in Finder, Add to Favorites, Configure Application, Force Quit Application, Share, and more.
This makes performing multiple tasks using the same tool easier and faster without navigating different menus or applications.

For instance, after using Raycast's built-in calculator, pressing the Return (or Enter) key will automatically copy the result to your clipboard, making it easier to paste into a document or app.
In addition, you can refer back to these calculations later by typing Calculator History or access any previously copied items by typing Clipboard History.
4. System Settings and Features
