How to: Create A New Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016 Profile

Many issues related to Outlook 2007 / 2010 / 2013 and 2016 can be easily resolved by starting fresh with a new profile. Outlook maintains everything through profiles which holds all your information. Think of it as a body holding organs; when the body is broken you change it; what you have now is your current profile that holds all your existing data and e-mails. If you did not knew this before then you now do.

However, when you create a new Outlook profile; your e-mail data will be lost from the previous profile such as if your account was configured as POP (pop stores e-mails locally) on the hard disk; if it was IMAP (imap stores e-mails on the server and keeps everything in sync all the time) then your new profile will re-download everything from the webmail when you configure the new account. If you were a POP user; now is the time to switch to IMAP.

To configure a new profile you will need to go to Control Panel; from Control Panel you will need to choose Mail (32) bit option. If you cannot see the option, type Mail in the search box to bring it up.

Then click Add and name the new Profile. Click OK.As soon as you do that; you will be required to type in your e-mail information (name, e-mail address and password) so that it can configure the new account. Do that; and proceed with the steps on screen. Once done, set the new profile you created as the default. Which you can do by choosing the new profile name from under the box that says “Always use this profile“. Click OK to confirm it.

In order for the new profile to work; you must successfully configure the new email account – in most cases; Outlook picks up these settings automatically but if you do not know what your settings  then you must confirm it first before creating a new profile. You can easily do this by going to www.settings.email and typing in your address there or by calling your ISP.
