Why Can’t Roku Connect to the Internet and How to Fix it?

We found the underlying causes to be:

  • Weak Wireless Singal: The Roku TCL TV connects to the internet connection wirelessly and the wireless signal needs to be strong in order for it to be able to stream content. The wireless signal gets weak as we move further away from the router and if we move away a lot, it creates disconnection/signal issues.
  • TV Configurations: In some cases, the TV might not be configured properly due to which the error might be triggered. There can also be issues with TV Software and it might be missing important files due to which important system functionalities are being disturbed.
  • Invalid SSID/Password: It is possible that the SSID and the password for the wireless connection might not have been entered properly and due to a glitch the connection was established but the internet access wasn’t granted. This can occur and in some cases, it might be the reason this error is being triggered and it can also trigger the error code 014.40.

Solution 1: Power-Cycling Devices

Since there might be the buildup of corrupt DNS cache inside the router which can prevent the devices from being able to connect to a certain service, we will be power-cycling both the router and the TV. In order to do that:

  1. Unplug the power from both the router and the TV.Resolve Error Code 014.30 on Roku

  3. Plug the devices back in and turn them ON.Resolve Error Code 014.30 on Roku
