How to Change Siri's Voice on a Mac
If you're a long-time Apple device user, you're probably tired of listening to the same voice whenever you say "Siri" or "Hey Siri." Fortunately, it's pretty simple to change Siri's gender, dialect, and language, regardless of which device you own.
How to Change Siri's Voice on iPhone or iPad
Modern versions of iOS and iPadOS let you customize how Siri sounds. Here's what you need to do to change Siri's voice on your iPhone or iPad:
- Go to Settings > Siri & Search.
- Tap Language to change the language Siri speaks and listens to.
- Tap Siri Voice to change the gender or dialect.
While you're at it, you can tweak other settings to make Siri respond to your queries silently, stop Siri from announcing calls, or even turn off Siri entirely.
How to Change Siri's Voice on an Apple Watch
Changing Siri's voice is just as easy on an Apple Watch. Here's what you need to do:
- Head to Settings > Siri.
- Tap Language to change the language in which Siri communicates.
- Tap Siri Voice to change Siri's voice.
How to Change Siri's Voice on a Mac
You can also change Siri's voice on macOS, but the steps you need to follow are slightly different. Here's what you need to do:
- Click the Apple logo in the menu bar and select System Settings from the dropdown menu.
- Select Siri & Spotlight from the sidebar.
- Set the Language option as the language you'd like Siri to speak and listen to.
- Click Select next to Siri Voice to change the voice. Select the dialect under Voice Variety, then choose your preferred option under Siri Voice (e.g., Voice 1, Voice 2, etc.). Each voice option represents a different gender and voice type.
Changing Siri's language or dialect helps the virtual assistant understand you better when giving commands and can also help you feel more relaxed when using Siri.
Rather than only having one language option with the same accents, Apple offers multiple languages and dialects that match your native tongue better. It may be just one of the things you probably didn't realize Siri could do.
