When you try to install a Microsoft Game, you find that you are unable to do so, and you receive an error message, then this could probably be because your InstallShield application could have become corrupted or damaged.
The error message you receive after you start the installation could be any of the following two:
Error – 1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime
Error – 1628: Failed to complete installation
If you face this issue, try the following suggestions:
1] Rename the InstallShield folder
- Open the \Program Files\Common Files\ folder
- Right-click the Installshield folder
- Rename it as InstallShield-old
- Try to install the game.
2] Install the latest Windows Installer package
Download the latest .msu or .exe file for your version of Windows, install it and then see.
3] Manually close these 2 processes
- Open the Task Manager, locate idriver.exe and msiexec.exe.
- Right-click on them and select End Process.
4] Create a new user account
Create a new user account that has administrative rights. Then, use this new user account to install the game and see if that helps.
5] Install in Clean Boot State
Try to install the program in Clean Boot State. If it helps good, else you may need to manually troubleshoot further in that state.
