This Easy Trick Makes Windows 10 Start Up Faster

There are plenty of ways you can fix slow boot times on a Windows 10 computer, but one of the simplest things you can do is reduce the number of programs that load at startup.

Open up your task manager. You can do this by typing it in the Cortana search bar, or hitting Ctrl + Alt + Delete and clicking Task Manager in the menu that shows up, or right-clicking anywhere on the Task Bar and clicking Task Manager.

The Task Manager will open in a simplified view. Click More Details to open up the advanced view.

Click on the Startup tab to see a list of the apps and processes that launch when you switch on your computer.

You can then go through the list to select which items you don't want to launch on startup by right-clicking the item and selecting Disable.

You can also take advantage of information in the Task Manager that can help decide whether you should disable any given program. Windows 10 lets you know the startup impact each program has on your computer. In other words, how much of it might slow down your computer's startup time.

Once you've made your selections, nothing will actually happen on your computer. You will have to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

If you find that there was a program you disabled, you can always go back into the Task Manager and enable it to load on startup. And if you're not sure where to start with disabling programs, check out this list of non-essential programs you can safely disable.
