If you've just purchased a new PC with Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 installed, you might be feeling a little flummoxed as to how your old data will make its way from your retiring PC to the new one.
Well, don't worry, because Microsoft has decided to make the process easy, as it's partnering with Laplink to bring a free data transfer tool to all Windows users who are running an old PC with Windows XP or newer and a new PC with Windows 8.1 or 10.
All you need to do is head over to this page and download the free software. Run it on both PCs, and follow the Wizard that'll guide you through the process. If you've already spent time customizing the new PC, don't worry, because Settings will be retained after the transfer has gone through.
The partnership between Microsoft and Laplink ends in August 2016, so it you don't download the software by then, you'll be missing the boat!
