Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22579 brings ability to name folders in Start Menu & more

Windows Insiders, it's time to end the week with a big download in the Dev Channel! Microsoft just released Windows 11 Preview Build 22579, and it's a big one. The release brings the ability to name folders on the Start Menu and more. Oh, and Microsoft also has new ISOs for this build, too! Here's a look at what you need to know.

First up there's the big news for the Start Menu, where you can now name a folder. To name a folder, simply create a folder (which will have the default name of “Folder”), open it, click on “Edit name”, and type your folder name. Alternatively, you can use keyboard focus to open the folder then select the text box and start typing.

In addition, Microsoft has added some improvements to the Get Started app to Windows 11. There are now pinned site suggestions, so you can conveniently pin websites to your taskbar. To find this new feature, launch the Get Started app and navigate to the “Apps and sites we think you’ll love” page. Click on any of the sites suggested on the page to pin it to your taskbar so you can access the sites you care about in one-click.

Other new features in this build can be seen below.

As always, check out Microsoft's blog post for the full changelog. We've only been highlighting big features, but there are a ton of fixes for the tablet-optimized taskbar, Start Menu, Focus, Windowing, and more. Happy downloading, Windows Insiders!
