Windows 11 Insider build 22478 is out with new Fluent emojis

Microsoft has just announced the release of the Windows 11 Insider build 22478 for Dev Channel testers, and the main change is the introduction of new Fluent emojis. The redesign emojis look really different from the Windows 10 emojis, and there’s also some cool fan service with Clippy replacing the standard paperclip emoji.

The Windows Insider team also said today that it has started testing Update Stack packages that will deliver update improvements outside of major OS updates such as new builds. "Through the Update Stack Package, we can deliver improvements to the update experience prior to the PC taking a monthly or Feature Update," the team explained.

This new build also brings some changes for Windows Hello, the volume icon in the Taskbar, as well as various bug fixes. You can find the full list of changes, bug fixes, and known issues in the Windows 11 build 22478 below:

It's not clear yet if the new Fluent Design emojis will soon their way to the regular version of Windows 11 that just started rolling out to Windows 10 users. It's too bad that the new OS launched with the old Windows 10 emojis, but the Microsoft design team deserves credit for refreshing the 1800+ emojis with a new 3D design.

Last but not least, the Windows Insider team is also celebrating the 7th anniversary of the Windows Insider program today with special desktop wallpapers. You can download the dark version here and light version here.
